North Star Power Engineering (NSPE) creates custom and semi-custom solutions for an array of high power applications. We thrive on transforming ideas into innovations. When it comes to the next generation of solid-state solutions for high voltage applications, NSPE is not only in the race, we’re leading the field.
In order to meet our customers’ most difficult demands, innovation is a constant at NSPE. As an example, we often integrate technologies to arrive at a new architecture that allows us to build products that compliment and exceed the capabilities of current OEM equipment.

Dr. Richard Adler, noted scientist, engineer and inventor has returned to NSPE as Principal Scientist and Technical Sales Advisor. Dr. Adler continues to make great strides in EMP research and in experimental and theoretical studies of intense electron beams critical to the design of next-generation linear induction accelerators.
NSPE offers over 20 years of practical application experience. A staff of engineers with an enviable depth of knowledge shares a passion to aggressively push the technology envelope.
NSPE operates a state-of-the-art manufacturing facility in Tucson, Arizona. It includes our corporate offices, and generous areas for research and production to allow simultaneous design, assembly and testing of multiple products and programs.
High voltage equipment to 500 kV is available for testing and we maintain the capability to measure high voltage with traceability to the US National Institute of Standards and Technology. High voltage vacuum projects often require testing of devices which produce ionizing radiation, and we have a 25 ft. x 25 ft. radiation-shielded room with a rolling door for performing those tests.
In-house capabilities include a 450 kV DC electron/ion accelerator, a 500 kV pulse generator (1.5 µsec pulse duration), a machine shop for rapid modification of parts, detailed electronic simulation, electrostatic and magnetostatic simulation, particle orbit simulation (with and without space charge), radiation transport, and Superfish modeling and Autocad design.
NSPE welcomes your most challenging technical requirements; that’s our bread and butter. But, much more than that, we’re proud and energized that our creative solutions are defining the future of solid-state, high voltage systems for a wide variety of applications.
